In the South, chocolate pecan pie is every bit as popular as the original recipe… but it all has to start somewhere! This basic method for preparing pecan pie like grandma used to make is teaming with tradition, authenticity and true southern charm. It’s the kind of recipe that gets passed down from generation to generation because of its simplicity and down right deliciousness. Enjoy!

Loveless Pecan Pie

1 cup light corn syrup
1/2 cup brown sugar
3 eggs
1 t pure vanilla extract
1/4 t ground cinnamon
2 oz unsalted butter, melted
1 1/4 cups pecan pieces
1 10-inch pie crust

Mix first six ingredients together with wire whisk until smooth. Place pecans in pie shell. Pour custard mix over nuts and bake at 375 F for 30 minutes or until filling puffs and rises above the edges of the pie shell. Carefully remove pie from oven and let cool completely before serving.
