Here at the Loveless Cafe, it’s safe to say we know biscuits. One of our favorite aspects about a traditional biscuit recipe is that it’s like a (buttery and delicious) blank canvas. Adding savory flavors like sharp cheeses, green onions and garlic makes it something completely different and special. No matter how you mix up your recipes, though, we love that the initial starting point is always the same.
Garlic and Cheese Biscuits
2 lb bag Loveless Cafe Biscuit Mix
1 cup parmesan cheese, grated
½ cup cheddar cheese, grated
½ cup fresh parsley, chopped
½ cup green onions, chopped
2 ea cloves fresh garlic, minced
3 cups buttermilk
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Pour buttermilk into large bowl. Add garlic and blend. Add mix and begin folding. Before dough is evenly mixed, add in herbs and parmesan. Continue mixing, until a smooth dough is formed. Do not overmix!
Roll dough to approximately 1/2 inch thickness. Cut into squares and place on a parchment paper-lined baking sheet so that the sides are touching. Brush with butter and bake for approximately 10-15 minutes until they are lightly browned. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
TIP: Feel free to substitute your favorite fresh herbs for a signature biscuit of your own!
