Double Chocolate Cherry Cookies from the Loveless Cafe

Mark Curtis, employee of the Loveless Cafe, got this recipe from his friend, Carol, who lives in Wisconsin. Great for Christmas parties since one batch yields 72 cookies!

Double Chocolate Cherry Cookies

1 cup butter, softened

1 1/3 cups granulated sugar

2/3 cup packed brown sugar

1 tsp. baking soda

¼ tsp. salt

2 eggs

1 ½ tsps Vanilla

3 cups all purpose flour

2 cups dried tart cherries

1 ½ cups chopped nuts

1 ½ cups chocolate chips

1 cup white chocolate chips

In a large mixing bowl, beat butter with electric mixer 30 seconds. Add sugar, baking soda and salt. Beat until combined.

Beat in the eggs and vanilla until mixture is smooth. Using the mixer, beat in as much of the flour as you can. Stir in remaining flour by hand. Stir in cherries, nuts, chocolate and white chocolate chips. (Dough will be stiff).

Drop from rounded tablespoons 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets. Bake at 325° 14-16 minutes or until golden. Cool a few minutes then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
