Countdown to the James Beard Dinner: 12 hours. The morning of Valentine’s Day starts early. We get access to the Beard House at 8:00am and the chefs immediately get to work. Even though there’s daunting amount of work to be done over the next 12 hours, Bart, Daniel, Alisa and George are well-paced and somehow manage to keep their cool, literally, in a very hot kitchen. Speaking of the kitchen, remember that Rehearsal Dinner we hosted a couple weeks back? By recreating the James Beard kitchen at home, the chefs already have a feel for how they will move around the tiny space.
